Qld Government First Home Owners’ Grant extended

The 2017-18 Queensland state budget was handed down this month and Queenslander’s looking to buy their first home have been handed a six month lifeline.

The Queensland First Home Owners Grant has been extended until 31st December 2017.

The First Home Owners grant was due to drop from $20,000 to $15,000 as of July 1, but the change has been put off for another six months.

The Queensland First Home Owners Grant is a state government initiative to help first home owners to get their new first home sooner. You’ll get $20,000 towards buying or building your new house, unit or townhouse (valued at less than $750,000). You can even buy off the plan or choose to build yourself. It’s a great opportunity to buy or build a new home in our great state.

Who is eligible for the $20,000 QLD First Home Owners’ Grant?

To receive the $20,000 grant you must be an eligible first home buyer and enter a contract to purchase or build a brand new property under $750,000 before 31 December 2017. The definition of a new property and who is an eligible first home buyer has not changed.
